Going Home
Your discharge from the hospital should be as uneventful and safe as
possible.
- Receive all your instructions in writing. Make sure that you
read and understand them. Also, have the information explained
verbally.
- Review all your medications and make sure you know their names,
dosages, and how often you should take them.
- Before you leave, check to see that you have all your personal
items, as well as any new prescriptions, medications, written
follow-up plan or other health information.
- Arrange to have someone pick you up by
11 a.m. the day of
discharge.
- Ask for a phone number to call if you should have questions once
you get home.
